Homeopathics are a gentle yet powerful way of supporting women through the sacred transitions of conception, pregnancy, birth, and the early days of motherhood. Remedies often appear in the clinic when the body shows that they are the best channel of support. When a homeopathic shows up in balance, we also address the underlying emotional anchor — this not only amplifies the remedy’s benefits but often reduces the length and dose required. Homeopathics are also an amazing stand-alone support you can easily access and weave into your support team. They don’t override the body — they remind it how to restore balance, calm, and vitality. Here are some of the core remedies that come up most frequently: I try to purchase locally where available and love that HORSE AND ANGEL HOMEOPATHY can be picked up at Govita. I personally get my more complex remedies from NEWTONS PHARMACY because I can get oils, supplements and flower remedies all in one order and one lot of postage. Fertility & Conception Sepia – Known as a classic “hormone balancer.” This remedy often suits women who feel disconnected from their cycle, emotionally flat, or burdened by responsibility. There may be irregular periods, low libido, or a sense of exhaustion that lifts after exercise. - Expression: Feeling “burnt out,” irritable, or detached from intimacy. - What to Expect: Sepia can help restore a natural rhythm, reconnecting you to your body and softening emotional heaviness. Natrum Muriaticum – Indicated when suppressed grief, past heartbreak, or emotional holding patterns affect conception. - Expression: A tendency to bottle things up, prefer solitude, or feel emotionally closed. - What to Expect: Gradual release of emotional blockages, with a renewed openness and ability to receive. Pregnancy Support Nux Vomica – A go-to for morning sickness, especially when nausea comes with heightened smell sensitivity and digestive upset. - Expression: Irritability, queasiness at the slightest food smell, feeling overstimulated and restless. - What to Expect: Easing of nausea, improved digestion, and a calmer nervous system. Pulsatilla – Suited to women who feel emotionally sensitive, clingy, or weepy during pregnancy. They may crave comfort, reassurance, and fresh air. - Expression: Gentle, yielding nature that feels easily overwhelmed or tearful. - What to Expect: A lifting of emotional weight, with greater steadiness and inner calm. Ferrum Phos – A tissue salt that supports energy, oxygenation, and immune balance. Often used in pregnancy to gently prevent anaemia or low vitality. - Expression: Fatigue, pallor, or low stamina. - What to Expect: Improved energy and colour, with less susceptibility to minor infections. Birth & Postpartum Recovery Arnica Montana – The number one homeopathic for birth. It supports healing after the physical strain, bruising, and shock of labour. - Expression: “Don’t touch me, I’m sore everywhere.” Feeling battered or traumatised. - What to Expect: Reduced soreness and bruising, faster recovery, a sense of resilience. Bellis Perennis – Particularly indicated after deep tissue trauma (e.g. C-section, forceps delivery). - Expression: Lingering soreness deep in the abdomen, pelvic region, or surgical site. - What to Expect: Deeper recovery, tissue repair, and less post-surgical discomfort. Calendula – Supports wound healing and prevents infection, especially after tearing or episiotomy. - Expression: Soreness with slow healing, concern about stitches or infection. - What to Expect: Faster wound repair, reduced inflammation, and a soothing effect on tissues. For New Mums Ignatia Amara – Often called the “grief remedy,” it supports mums in the emotional waves after birth. This can be grief over the birth experience, unfulfilled expectations, or sudden tears without an apparent reason. - Expression: Sighing, lump in the throat, mood swings, suppressed tears. - What to Expect: Emotional release, steadiness, and a softening of inner pressure. Chamomilla – Helpful for both mums and babies when there’s irritability and restlessness. It’s especially suited to unsettled nights, teething, or when pain makes one short-tempered. - Expression: “I can’t cope,” snapping easily, baby crying inconsolably. - What to Expect: Greater calm, improved rest, and relief from oversensitivity. Lac Humanum – A remedy made from human milk, sometimes indicated when a mother struggles to bond with her newborn or feels conflicted in her new role. - Expression: Ambivalence, difficulty with nurturing, feeling disconnected. - What to Expect: Deeper bonding, acceptance of the maternal role, and restored trust in the flow of life. Gentle Guidance Homeopathics are safe, natural, and can be taken alongside other supports. Relief from acute symptoms (like nausea or soreness) is often quick, while deeper emotional and hormonal balancing unfolds over days or weeks. Expect shifts in mood, energy, and a growing sense of “coming back to yourself.”
