Braingym for Kids - Full Youtube list and descriptions

Send some YouTube love my way — it helps YouTube see just how awesome Brain Gym truly is!
Here you’ll find a complete list of Brain Gym videos, neatly divided into subcategories for easy navigation and use.

Always Starting HERE:
Toothpaste Squeezes - Used to bypass the stress response (Amygdala) in the body, calm the nervous system and bring the individual back into their body. Perfect for bedtime winddown, technology meltdowns, sensory overload or just perfect to reconnect with a bit of skin to skin.

Switching Points - This is the perfect home reinforcement activity for in-between sessions — ideal for preparing the brain and body for learning, classroom focus, or after-school transitions. It’s also an excellent support for children who feel less enthusiastic about sport or music lessons due to frustration, coordination challenges, or low muscle tone.

Cross Crawl  - The Cross Crawl is a simple daily Brain Gym movement that strengthens the brain–body connection by activating both hemispheres. It boosts focus, coordination, and energy while regulating the nervous system — helping children and adults feel calm, balanced, and ready to learn.

Lazy 8s – This Braingym activity strengthens eye tracking, coordination, and concentration by tracing a horizontal figure eight (∞) pattern in the air with your thumb while keeping your eyes focused on it. As your eyes follow the movement across the midline, it integrates the left and right hemispheres of the brain, improving reading fluency, comprehension, and visual–motor coordination. Using the thumb adds a tactile and proprioceptive element, helping to anchor focus and calm the nervous system. Ideal for use before learning, sports, or screen time, Lazy 8s promote smooth eye movement, visual focus, and relaxed attention.

Braingym for Developmental Milestones:

Balance Buttons - This simple exercise supports sensory processing and emotional regulation by helping a child come back into their body for full nervous system integration. The vestibular system plays a significant role in child development, and children who appear timid or hesitant in play are often labelled as shy, when in fact, their body may just be seeking balance and safety. If this sounds like your child, I highly recommend a full kinesiology balance to support confidence, coordination, and emotional ease.

Calf Pumps – This Braingym activity helps balance the Kidney and Bladder meridians while regulating the Triple Warmer and adrenal system. By rhythmically lifting and lowering the heels, you activate the calf muscles — the body’s “second heart” — to stimulate circulation, grounding, and energy flow up the spine. This gentle pumping motion calms the stress response, supports adrenal recovery, and restores a steady rhythm between action and rest. Ideal during times of fatigue, anxiety, or overdrive, Calf Pumps help the body shift from survival mode into balance, promoting clarity, calm focus, and renewed vitality.

Butt Walking - This simple Braingym exercise is perfect for children who W-sit, as it helps strengthen the core, hips, and lower back while improving posture and balance. When kids sit in a W position, it often indicates weak postural stability and underdeveloped cross-patterning. Butt walking supports left–right brain integration, midline crossing, and balances the Large Intestine Meridian to enhance digestion, emotional release, and adaptability — ideal for kids who slouch or tire easily when sitting upright, and for adults wanting better body awareness and nervous system regulation.

Braingym for Sensory Processing:

Naughts and Crosses - Naughts and Crosses is a beautiful, calming movement that helps integrate the Moro reflex, which is linked to the body’s startle and stress response. This activity gently retrains the nervous system to feel safe and settled, improving a child’s ability to manage transitions, loud noises, and emotional overwhelm. A retained Moro reflex is associated with an overactive fight, flight, or freeze response, which leaves the nervous system easily startled and reactive. It can manifest as sensitivity to sound, light, or touch, emotional overwhelm, poor focus, or difficulty calming after stress — all signs that the body still needs to find safety and stability within itself.

Rock and Roll - Updated Soon

The Neck Release is a simple yet powerful Brain Gym movement that eases tension through the neck and shoulders while calming the nervous system. It helps integrate postural reflexes, improving balance, focus, and coordination. Perfect for children and adults experiencing learning fatigue, poor posture, or stress, this activity restores the connection between body and brain — relieving eye strain, enhancing concentration, and creating a sense of calm and confidence. This little braingym is often used as home reinforcement when working with vagus nerve activation.

Thinking Cap – This simple Braingym activity helps awaken the brain for listening, focus, and comprehension by gently unrolling the outer edges of the ears from top to bottom. It stimulates numerous acupressure points linked to hearing, balance, and memory, while activating the auditory processing centres of the brain. Ideal before reading, language, or communication tasks, it encourages clearer thinking, sharper focus, and calmer attention. For children, it’s a great way to “switch on” the ears before learning; for adults, it relieves tension and improves mental clarity.

Hook-ups - Hook-Ups are a calming Brain Gym activity that supports sensory processing, self-regulation, and whole-body integration. By gently crossing the arms and legs and focusing on slow breathing, this movement activates both brain hemispheres and switches the body from “fight or flight” into a state of calm and balance. It helps children and adults feel centred, grounded, and ready to focus — perfect before learning, transitions, or anytime emotions think big.

Cooks Hook-Ups - Cook’s Hook-Ups are a powerful Brain Gym technique that promotes sensory regulation, emotional balance, and whole-body integration. By crossing the arms and legs and focusing on gentle, rhythmic breathing, this movement connects the left and right brain hemispheres and helps the nervous system shift from stress to calm. It’s ideal for children and adults who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or distracted — helping to restore focus, stability, and a deep sense of inner calm before learning or transitions.

Sensitive Toes - Updated Soon

Shoulder Dust - Updated Soon

Brain Gym For Emotional Regulation:

The Shoulder Shrug -  This simple yet powerful movement activates deep meridian pathways within the body. At its essence, it encourages a Yin meridian reset when combined with conscious breathing. The shoulder lift and strong exhale help restore balance in the Bladder and Kidney meridians, releasing emotional patterns linked to fear — fear of expressing emotions, fear of getting into trouble, or fear of not being heard or understood. It’s a beautiful way to release tension, restore flow, and help the body feel safe to express itself freely.

Braingym for Learning:

Pirate Reading - A fantastic little activity to use even before children begin reading — simply have them follow along in the book. This exercise strengthens both the dominant and non-dominant eyes while engaging the dominant hand, preparing the brain and body for school readiness. It’s beneficial for left-handed children in predominantly right-handed environments, and for improving reading confidence, speed, and the ability to track ahead for smoother punctuation and flow.

The Learning Compass - This simple yet effective X Integration activity strengthens your visual and vestibular systems — the foundation for balance, focus, and confident movement. By focusing your eyes on the centre of the cross and gently moving your head in a compass-like motion, you activate communication between your eyes, inner ear, and body to enhance coordination, reading fluency, and concentration. Perfect for children with learning challenges, athletes refining performance, or anyone seeking greater clarity and calm, this practice restores equilibrium to the nervous system and supports overall neurofitness.

Eye Tracking - A perfect little Brain Gym activity to improve eye control and smooth tracking across the page when reading. It works wonders for individuals whose eyes tend to jump around, those with a stigmatism, dyslexic tendencies, left-handed learners, or anyone learning English as a second language after first reading in the opposite direction.

The Rainbow - Visual Learning and Spelling Strategy - The Rainbow is a fun and effective Brain Gym activity that strengthens visual learning pathways, supporting ease and confidence in spelling. Successful spelling relies heavily on strong visual recall, reinforced by auditory cues — not through kinesthetic trial and error. This exercise helps build the correct neural connections for visual memory and word recognition before introducing more complex strategies. If spelling challenges persist, a whole Kinesiology Balance is highly recommended, as there may be deeper reflex or sensory integrations needed to support lasting improvement.

Arm Activation - Pencil Grip and Writing Confidence - Arm Activation is a powerful Brain Gym exercise designed to improve pencil grip, pen control, and overall arm coordination. It helps integrate retained reflexes that influence fine motor skills, posture, and stability during writing or reading. This activity also supports better body positioning, fluency of thought, and the confidence to transition from listening to instructions into working independently — creating smoother, more focused learning experiences for children and adults alike.

Braingym to Improve Transitions into the Learning Environment:

Handball 1 - There is a lot more happening with this one than it looks like. The whole Braingym aims to strengthen hand-eye coordination and integrate the grasp reflex. What this means is that they let go of you and reach out to learn. Hand is also cool and will give your little one the confidence to join in and play with other children as they approach school. Bonus would be to send them in with the handball goods to start their own game and build friendships.

Handball 2 - The second video in the Handball series builds on cross-patterned movement for left–right brain integration, adding gentle switching and core activation to boost focus and coordination. Watch to understand the foundations of using the X card and eye positions, then have fun increasing the challenge as you go.
